WALTHAM, Mass.- Bentley University picked up a 9-0 victory over American International in Northeast-10 women's tennis play Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 7-2 in the NE-10 and 7-8 overall with the win.
In top-flight doubles, senior Aimee Tetu (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) and junior Kara Murphy (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) defeated Amanda McLean and Angie Rassias 8-0, and senior Cheryl Martin (Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph Central) and junior Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) topped Martine Turgeon and Edina Olowo 8-0 in number two doubles.
Murphy picked up a win in number one singles, 6-2, 6-3 over Rassias. Harbert blanked McLean in number two singles 6-0, 6-0, sophomore Jackie Cheung (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) bested Turgeon in number three singles 6-0, 6-1 and freshman Alyssa Hayes (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) shutout Olowo 6-0, 6-0 in number four singles.
The Falcons are next back on courts Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against first place Southern New Hampshire.
