Robinson, Trueb Record 2nd-Place Finishes at NE-10 Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Juniors Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) and Curtis Trueb (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester HS) had the top finishes for the Bentley University men during the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Robinson was second in the 3,000 meters, with his time of 8:35.52 a personal best and good for ninth on Bentley's all-time list. He finished 3.3 seconds back of James Mee of American International.  Trueb had an identical finish in the mile, posting an NCAA Division II provisional and New England qualifying time of 4:13.18. That put him 0.65 seconds off the winning pace, registered by AIC's Jeremy Antino.

Bentley's next highest finish came in the 4x400 relay, with the Falcons taking fourth in 3:24.59. That foursome consisted of seniors Mike Vatti (Easton, Pa,/Easton HS) and Andy Gauthier (Dracut/ Central Catholic HS), junior Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS) and freshman Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS).

In the 5,000 meters, Bentley had two in the top six with junior Sean Maguire (Essex, Vt./Essex HS) and senior Tom Witherell (Los Alamos, N.M./Los Alamos HS) fifth and sixth, respectively. Both set new PRs, with Maguire finishing in 15:19.33 and Witherell recording a time of 15:24.41.

Freshman Nikos Devletoglou (Athens, Greece) was fifth in the high jump (6'0.5") and senior Steven Long (Newton/Newton North HS) finished sixth in the shot put (44'11.75"). Bentley also received eighth-place showings from juniors Rob Hennessy (North Andover/North Andover HS) in the 1000 (PR 2:32.72) and Chris Letourneau (Franklin/Franklin HS) in the 800 (2:02.04).

As a team, Bentley finished seventh of nine teams with 41 points. Southern Connecticut State (164) edged out Stonehill (148) and AIC (137) for the team championship.
