Uthman-Olukukon Shines for Bentley During Northeast-10 Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) had an impressive meet while competing for the Bentley University Falcons during the 13th annual Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center Saturday with his performances including a first-place finish and a share of a school record.

Uthman-Olukokun ran to victory in the 200 meters with his time of 22.55 seconds bettering Taylor Jean-Gilles of Merrimack by 0.03 seconds. That came after he finished third in the 60 in 7.03, a time that matched a two-decade-old school record set by Darrell Crosby-Williams in 1992 and matched 1993. Crosby-Williams' time was actually set in the 55 and converted to a 60.

Uthman-Olukokun also competed in the long jump, with his distance of 20 feet, 9.75 inches putting him 14th.

In the triple jump, sophomore Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS) was credited with third place with an unofficial leap of 45 feet, seven inches.

Bentley had three sixth-place individual finishes during the meet, including junior Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Reg. HS) in the 800 with his 1:58.00 a PR by 1.39 seconds. HS) took sixth in the long jump (22'1.5") and freshman Eric Beckwith (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS) did the same in the shot, setting a new collegiate best of 45'7" in the process.

Seventh-place finishes were posted by freshman Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) in the mile (4:29.93), senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) in the 800 (1:58.01, a PR by 1.19 seconds) and sophomore Anthony Strong (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus HS) in the triple jump (43'5.25").

Sophomore Anthony Lacey (Ogdensburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was eighth in the mile (4:33.15) and freshman Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) had a similar finish in the 1000 (2:34.50).

Bentley's highest relay showing was sixth in the distance medley with Haas, Lacey and Higgins combining with freshman Brad Bathelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) for an 11:02.89. In the 4x800, the quartet of Bolick, Connolly, sophomore David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) and freshman Greg Karpacz (Wayland/Wayland HS) were seventh in 8:16.46.

As a team, Bentley was seventh of ten with 44 points. Southern Connecticut State, with 193, earned the championship by 46 points over Stonehill College.
