Garden City, N.Y. – Freshman
Logan Veloria gave Bentley a first half lead, but Adelphi scored three unanswered goals in the second half in a 3-1 victory over the Falcons on Tuesday.
Veloria's second goal of the season came in the 35
th minute as the Falcons took the lead on the road.
The goal came as he started with the ball deep on the right wing in Bentley's attacking end. He took on an initial Panthers defender and as got close to the 18-yard box he maneuvered around another Panthers defender. That created space to get off a low shot that beat the Adelphi keeper to the far post from the edge of the penalty area.
Bentley took that 1-0 lead into halftime, but just 15 seconds into the second half Adelphi tied it on a goal by Pablo Herrera.
The game remained tied for the next 15 minutes until Adelphi scored twice in a span of two minutes.
Both goals came from Victor Castel, in the 62
nd and 64
th minutes, to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons fall to 4-2-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the NE10. They are back in action on Saturday at 3:00 pm when they host Staten Island.
