Falcons advance to NE10 Championship following 3-1 win over New Haven

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bentley volleyball team avenged last year's Northeast-10 Semifinal loss by beating New Haven, 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20), in Friday night's NE10 Semifinal clash in Springfield.

Bentley, the tournament's #2 seed, will take on #1 American International Saturday, Nov. 23, for the NE10 Tournament crown at 5 p.m.

Sophia Poehlein had a match-high 17 kills against the #3 Chargers, and Caitlin Wunder added 12. Tory Vitko totaled 41 assists, marking her third match this season with 40+ assists.

As has been the case all season, Bentley's defense was outstanding and held New Haven to a .095 hitting percentage. Elizabeth Blinn – who ranks top five in the nation for blocks per set – totaled 10 blocks in the victory.

Five different Falcons posted double-digit digs. Jazzy Burke led the way with 20, followed by 17 from Poehlein. Ali Stuessi had 15 digs, Vitko added 14, and Erica Borzone finished with 12.
