WALTHAM, Mass. – Head coach
Joey Pacis called it the Bentley volleyball team's cleanest offensive game of the season after the #1 Falcons swept #8 D'Youville, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-11), in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday evening. It was the first time in school history that Bentley hosted an NCAA D-II Volleyball Tournament match.
The Falcons committed a season-low five attack errors in the win, hitting .341 for the contest. Coming the other way, the Bentley defense held D'Youville to a -0.050 attack percentage. It was the Saints' lowest percentage of the season by a wide margin (0.061).
Tory Vitko set up Bentley's attack with a match-high 26 assists, and
Caitlin Wunder led all players in kills with 10.
Defensively,
Elizabeth Blinn finished with nine blocks, and Wunder added five. As a team, the Falcons totaled 13 blocks – three shy of their season high.
Jazzy Burke had a match-high 12 digs, marking her 20
th contest this season with double-digit digs.
Bentley advances to the NCAA D-II East Regional Semifinal Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. The opponent will be the winner of #4 New Haven vs. #5 Adelphi. Â
