GOFFSTOWN, N.H.. –
Isabel Gonzalez won the Northeast 10 Women's Golf Individual Championship on Wednesday by 14 shots after a second round of score of +1 at 73. Gonzalez helped Bentley finish second place as a team.
Gonzalez, a freshman from Monterrey, Mexico, led the tournament after the first round by four shots after shooting a +5 round of 77.
She improved by four shots on Wednesday with her round of 73, which was the best score of the day by five shots.
That allowed her to build her lead throughout the day and win the championship by 14 shots, at +6 overall. She closed by birding the par-5 17
th hole and parring the par-4 18
th.
As a team, the Falcons finished second overall to Adelphi. In just their second season of competition, the program has had an outstanding fall with three tournament wins already.
Gaby Becker tied for 13
th. She shot 85 on Wednesday and improved by seven shots from the first round.
Tanya Chowdary was 15
th after her second round score of 87 was four shots better than on Tuesday.
Ana Gill in 17
th and Alex Kwon in 20
th also had top-20 individual finishes.
The tournament was held at Stonebirdge Country Club in Gofftown, New Hampshire.
