CHAMPIONS!! Bentley Tops AIC in Four Sets to Win NE10 Title

WALTHAM, Mass. – The 2025 Bentley volleyball team added the Northeast 10 Tournament championship to its mantle with a four set victory over American International at the Dana Center on Saturday night.
The undefeated regular season champions, the Falcons won their first NE10 tournament title since 2019. They clinched the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in the process.

It's the 11th NE10 playoff championship in the program's history.

Senior middle blocker Elizabeth Blinn was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player. Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Poehein was also named to the All-Championship team along with Blinn.

Blinn had seven blocks in the finals and 11 combined in the tournament.

The Falcons dropped the first set 25-16 as the Yellow Jackets hit .389. But the Falcons rebounded and won the next three sets 25-21, 25-23, 25-21.

In the second set Bentley trailed 13-11 at one point but used a 7-1 run to surge ahead at 18-14. AIC would pull back even at 18-18, but a 3-0 Falcons run made it 21-18 and they closed out the set with a kill by Poehlein.

The third set saw Bentley lead by six points at three different junctures and get to set point at 24-21. AIC stayed alive with two straight kills by Janelys Perez Cortez to make it 24-23, but an attack error on the Yellow Jackets on the next point clinched the set for Bentley.

In the fourth set, Bentley never trailed after taking the lead at 6-5. They opened up a 19-14 lead after a 7-3 run midway through the set.

Leading 22-20, a Yellow Jackets attack error put Bentley two points away.

AIC won the next point to make it 23-21, but an AIC attack error and a kill by Tory Vitko on championship point clinched the title to set off a celebration at the Dana Center.

Bentley will now await word on its seeding for the NCAA Tournament during the Selection Show on Monday night.
