ORLANDO, Fla. – The Bentley University men's golf team launched its spring season Monday and had a solid performance during day one of the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Falcon "A" team finished the day third among seven teams with a seven-over 295, ten strokes back of first-place Adelphi University. The Bentley "B" team stands in fifth place after recording a 306.
Bentley's top individual was freshman
C.J. Steel (Franklin, Mass./Franklin HS), who was playing for the B team. He carded a 36-35-71 with four birdies and finished the round tied for third in a field of 42 players.
Also in the top ten for Bentley following the opening round was senior
Chris Huban (Cohoes, N.Y./Albany Academy). He began the second round in a five-way tie for fifth following a 36-36-72.
Senior
Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) and sophomore
Andrew teDuits (Charleston, Mass./Boston College HS) both posted a two-over 74, good for a tie for 12
th, and senior
Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) was a stroke back with a 75.
In the team standings, the Bentley A team was in third place (295) and the B team was in fifth (306). Adelphi University led the seven-team field with a 285.
The second round will be played on Tuesday.
