WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley softball team extended its winning streak to five games by beating Adelphi, 6-5, in the first game of a doubleheader Friday. The Panthers won the second game, 5-3.

Bentley 6, Adelphi 5
Riley Piromalli recorded her 11
th complete game of the season while improving her season record to 8-7. She struck out seven and allowed seven hits during her seven innings in the circle.
Bentley scored the game's first run in the third inning.
Bella Burke hit a one-out double, and she moved to third base on a single by
Jordan Krause. Burke and Krause flawlessly executed a double steal to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons rallied for four runs for a much needed cushion in the fourth inning.
Maddie Baker and
Hailey Feiler began the rally with consecutive walks, and they both moved up a base on a groundout by
Carly DiMento.
Ella Bunovsky singled through the left side to score Baker. Two batters later, Burke belted a two-run double to put the Falcons ahead by a score of 4-0. The Falcons tacked on the rally's final run with Krause's double allowed Burke to reach home.
The Falcons held a 6-3 lead entering the seventh inning, but Adelphi threatened to tie the game – or worse. After getting the first batter of the seventh inning to ground out, Piromalli allowed a triple, a single, and a walk. The Panthers pushed two runs across the plate in the final frame, but Piromalli sealed the win by inducing an infield popup for the third and final out.

Jess Morrison hit her first home run of the season, but the Falcons couldn't climb out of a 5-0 hole when they lost to the Panthers, 5-3, in the second game.
Bentley trailed by five before putting run on the board in the fourth inning. Burke led off with a single, and she moved into scoring position on a base hit by Baker. Following a single from
Kim Saunders that loaded the bases, Feiler lifted a sac fly that allowed Burke to tag up and score.
Morrison's home run was a solo shot with two outs in the fifth inning, cutting the deficit to 5-2. Bentley added another run in the seventh inning when Saunders drove in Krause – who started the stanza with a double.
