WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley softball team celebrated four graduating Falcons before taking on No. 25 Pace for a Northeast-10 doubleheader Monday afternoon. Bentley held close with the nationally ranked Setters, but the Falcons came up short by scores of 1-0 and 2-0.
Prior to first pitch, Bentley celebrated
Jordan Krause,
Kim Saunders,
Katie Welch, and graduate student
Riley Piromalli.
Piromalli was locked in a pitchers' dual in the first game of the day. She tossed her 12
th complete game of the season, allowing only one run on four hits.
Krause accounted for the Falcons' only hit – a double down the left field line in the sixth inning.
Freshman
Maddie Pickett got the start in the circle for the second game. She, too, worked a complete game, yielding only two earned runs while striking out five.
Bentley put two runners in scoring position in the fifth inning.
Maddie Baker and
Lexi Vail hit consecutive one-out singles, and they both moved up a base on a sac bunt by
Carly DiMento. However, both runners were left stranded.
Bentley is on the road Tuesday, April 15, for a conference doubleheader at Southern Connecticut. They are make-up games from April 6.
