ERIE, Pa. – The Bentley University men's golf team finished 18^th among 23 competitors during the first day of the Atlantic/East Preview Tournament at the Whispering Woods Golf Club.

There are co-leaders at the midpoint with Davis & Elkins and Gannon University, the host team, sharing first place. Each turned in a 293, good for five over par. St. Thomas Aquinas University, third overall with a 295, leads the seven East Region teams.
               
Bentley, which had a team score of 316, was led by senior Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS). He posted a 40-37-77 and will begin the second round tied for 46^th in a field of 120.
               
The number two man for the Falcons during the opening round was freshman CJ Steel (Franklin, Mass./Franklin HS), who shot a 40-39-79 and is tied for 70^th.
             
Two players shot under par Monday with Pitt-Johnstown's Mario Battagia one stroke up on Gannon's Elijah Ruppert after a two-under 70.
               
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with a shotgun start set for 9:30 am.
