Game Recap: Softball |

Morrison homers, drives in five runs as Falcons beat Post twice

WALTHAM, Mass. – Jess Morrison hit her second home run of the season and drove in five runs, and Becca Harris hit a bases-loaded triple as the Bentley softball team won both ends of a non-conference doubleheader against Post Wednesday afternoon.

Bentley 10, Post 1 (5 inn.)
Riley Piromalli pitched all five innings to earn her 11th win of the season. She struck out seven and allowed four hits.

Bentley's bats posted five runs in the second inning, and the Falcons never looked back. Harris reached base on an error with one out on the board. She stole second base, and moved to third on a single by Hailey Feiler.

Carly DiMento was then hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Alexa Gross was also hit by a pitch to force in a run. With the bases still loaded, Morrison ripped a three-run triple to centerfield.

In the fourth inning, Maddie Baker hit a two-run double, and she came in to score when Kim Saunders hit a double.

Morrison's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning put a cap on the win. She finished the game 2-for-4 with five RBI, and Saunders went 2-for-3.

Bentley 5, Post 4
The Falcons trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Bentley rallied four runs to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Jordan Krause led off the home half of the sixth with a walk. Two batters later, Saunders hit a ground ball to third base. It was potentially an inning-ending double play, but the throw to second base wound up in the outfield.

Feiler – the next batter – hit a routine fly ball to left field, but the ball was dropped and the bases were loaded.

Harris stepped to the plate and smacked a three-run triple to left field, tying the score at 4-4. DiMento followed with a sacrifice fly to plate the go-ahead run.

Morrison and Harris both went 2-for-3 in the second game.

Bentley is scheduled to host American International Saturday, April 26, at 12 p.m.
