Bentley Falls in NE10 Semifinals to Saint Anselm in Overtime Heartbreaker, 10-9

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm's Colin Mulvey scored 2:48 into overtime to give the #1 seed Saint Anselm a 10-9 victory over the #5 seed Bentley Falcons in the semifinals of the NE10 Championship.

It was a close game throughout with the largest lead by either team being two goals. The game featured eight ties and nine lead changes.

Bentley's Nathan Alviti tied the game for the final time with 55 seconds left in regulation after he ripped a shot from long range to make it 9-9. The Hawks won the ensuing faceoff but a defensive stand by Bentley, punctuated by a caused turnover by Nick Kane, sent the game to overtime.

Dalton MacKinnon won the opening faceoff of overtime to give Bentley possession and they immediately called timeout. That led to a shot on goal by David Gagnon that was saved by Hawks goalie Finn Granara.

Bentley's Hunter Smith scooped up the rebound at the edge of the crease but his shot from close range was denied by an incredible save by Granara to keep the game going.

Bentley gained possession right back after a caused turnover by Alex Parton, which led to a shot by Brady Glass that Granara saved.

Saint Anselm called timeout at the 1:37 mark, and 25 seconds later found the winning goal on a shot by Mulvey.

The Falcons were led on offense by Smith with three goals and two goals each by Garrett Witt and David Gagnon. Parton had two caused turnovers and four ground balls and MacKinnon went 11-20 in the faceoff circle.

Jackson Tinsley made 12 saves.

Bentley (8-6) was ranked 7th in the East Region rankings that were released on Wednesday.
