Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) climbed 16 places in the standings as the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional continued Friday with second-day play at the Whispering Woods Golf Club.
Back-to-back birdies on the 16
th and 17
th holes, both par fours, helped Desjardins finish strong and post a second round 77. That enabled him to move from a tie for 78
th to a tie for 62
nd with a two-round score of 83-77-160.
Bentley's other participant in the regional, senior
Chris Huban (Cohoes, N.Y./Albany Academy) had a second round 79 and will begin Saturday's final day of play in a tie for 40
th with a 77-79-156.
Aidan Talent of Davis & Elkins remained at the top of the leaderboard with a two stroke lead over Gannon University's Rasmus Seppanen. Talent followed his opening round 68 with a one-over-par 73.
A total of 108 golfers are participating in the three-day, 54-hole event.
During Saturday's final round, Desjardins is scheduled to tee off at 8:40 am and Huban nearly two hours later.
