DAVIE, Fla. – The Bentley softball team lost two games at Nova Southeastern Saturday afternoon. The first game was a 2-0 final score, and the second game was a 6-0 final.
Freshman
Sophie Jorjorian was impressive in her first-career collegiate start in the circle. She allowed only two earned runs through her five innings of work.
Fellow freshman
Taylor Zajac pitched a shutout inning in relief of Jorjorian. Zajac made her collegiate debut Friday, hurling six innings and allowing just one earned run against East Stroudsburg.
During that close first game Saturday, Bentley put two runners in scoring position with one out in the third inning.
Hailey Feiler led off with a walk, and
Grace Messina came in to pinch run.
Ella Bunovsky promptly followed with a single to moved to Messina to second base. Both runners moved up a base when
Carly DiMento laid down a sacrifice bunt, but they were ultimately stranded on base.
In the sixth inning of the second game, the Falcons put multiple runners in scoring position.
Bella Burke and
Maddie Baker hit consecutive one-out singles. Burke stole third base, and
Michelle Diaz drew a walk to load the bases with two outs, but the game ended with a pop-up.
Sunday, Feb. 8, the Falcons return to Barry's campus – the site of Friday's games - for games against Barry  (9 a.m.) and Saginaw Valley State (11:30 a.m.)
