Kantowski wins Saint Anselm Spring Invitational with a fantastic second round

CANDIA, N.H. – Bentley's Jack Kantowski dominated the second round of the Saint Anselm Spring Invitational to win the event, which concluded Thursday.

Bentley placed second overall by shooting 307-290-597. Only Saint Anselm (288) had a better second round score than the Falcons. The Falcons were in fifth place following Wednesday's opening round. The remarkable turnaround was due in large part to Bentley's improved putting the second round.

Kantowski shot 71-67-138 between the two rounds. After finishing at par in the first round, he improved by four strokes in the second round. No other player shot better than 71 in either round.

After sinking three birdies in the first round Wednesday, Kantowski came away with six birdies Thursday. He had three on front nine, and three on the back nine.

Braden Yeomans finished the event tied for 12th after shooting 78-73-151, improving by five strokes from the first round to the second. Robbie Sluga improved by six strokes in the second round compared to the first. He shot 79-73-152 overall, tying for 15th.

"Our goal wasn't to chase the leaderboard, it was to control what we could control," said Bentley head coach Iain Highfield. "The team's ability to adapt, stay positive, and stay positive after a disappointing first round speaks volumes about their character."

Bentley's next outing is the Penmen Spring Invitational, April 13-14, at the Derryfield Country Club.
