Biography

Graduate student and tight end who is working on his MBA at Bentley … graduated from Penn State University in May 2014 with a degree in management … played four years of baseball for the Nittany Lions … one varsity letter at Bentley.

2014: In his first season of football since 2009, caught 35 passes for 446 yards and three TDs … was tied for second on the team in receptions and third in yards … also second among Northeast-10 tight ends in TDs and receiving yards … appeared in ten of 11 games with multiple-receptions in nine of those … career-best 112 yards on six catches Sept. 27 against New Haven … included was a 19-yard TD and a career-long 39-yard reception … also pulled in six balls (for 74 yards) Oct. 11 against Merrimack … four catches for 78 yards at LIU Post Nov. 8 … named to Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll Sept. 29 and was selected as the USACollegeFootball.org Division II Tight End of the Week Oct. 3.

At Penn State (2011-14): Was a catcher for the Penn State baseball team, appearing in 109 games with 99 starts during his four years … team captain as a senior … three-time Academic All-Big 10 selection who had his most productive year as a junior in 2012 … hit .259 with 18 runs scored and 12 RBI that season  … had a six-RBI game against Purdue.

Personal: 2010 graduate of Buckingham Browne and Nichols School where he was a four-year letterwinner in both football and baseball … during his four years, helped the BB&N football team to a 33-3 record … team captain in baseball and football at BB&N … the Knights were undefeated during his junior year, winning the Independent School League championship in the process … BB&N also reached the ISL finals his senior season … three-time All-ISL at both tight end and outside linebacker … helped BB&N win three straight ISL championships in baseball, including an undefeated season in 2010 … member of Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute and Athletic Honor Society while at Penn State … spent the summer of 2015 working in Manila ... has volunteered with Wounded Warrior Project … age as of Sept. 1: 23 … son of Gary and Renee Farkes … has three brothers: Zak (32), Josh (30) and Adam (27) … Zak played seven years of professional baseball and owns the home run record at Harvard … Josh played four years of pro baseball after earning All-Big East honors at UConn … Adam was a starting quarterback at both Maine and Texas A&M-Commerce.
