The 2026 season will mark the 19th year as head field hockey coach at Bentley University for Jessica (Cormier) Spencer, a 1997 Bentley graduate.

Spencer guided the Falcons to a standout 2025 season. They reached the finals of the NE10 Championship after they knocked off the top seed Assumption on the road in the semifinals and went to overtime in the championship game against Saint Anselm. The Falcons then received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they played Newberry College.

Bentley ended the season ranked 10th in the final NFHCA poll of the season.

Midfielder Gracie Moore was named a first team All-America by the NFHCA, becoming the 13th All-American she has coached.

As Bentley's head coach, Spencer has directed the Falcons to a 184-145 record with five NCAA tournament berths. In the 2025 season the Falcons qualified for the NE10 playoffs for the 14th time under Spencer.

In 2023, two of her players, goalie Mia Trottie and Emily Crowell were named NFHCA All-Americans.

The Falcons have also excelled academically under Spencer's guidance. In 2025, 16 players were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. Britney Pearson was named a NFHCA Scholar of Distinction in 2023 and Nicole Hartz in both 2024 and 2025.

Spencer has led Bentley to the NCAA Tournament in the 2008, 2009, 2012, 2021 and 2025 seasons.

In her first year in 2008, Spencer led Bentley to a 17-6 record (including a 16-game winning streak prior to the NCAA tournament), the Northeast-10 playoff championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II national semifinals.

The success continued in 2009 when Spencer directed the Falcons to a repeat NE10 playoff crown and the program's sixth consecutive NCAA appearance. Bentley also earned an NCAA tournament berth in 2012.

Spencer was hired as the head coach of her alma mater in May 2008 after nine years as the head field hockey coach at Lasell University.

A former two-time first-team Division II All-America for the Falcons, she started the Lasell program from scratch after spending two years as an assistant coach at Bentley (1997-98). Her most successful season with the Lasers came in 2004 when her team finished at 11-8. In 2006, she was named the North Atlantic Conference co-Coach of the Year.

Spencer played four seasons as a midfielder for the Falcons from 1993-96, helping the team to a four-year record of 40-33-5. She was selected to the NFHCA Division II All-America team in both 1995 and 1996, and as a senior, was chosen as the first Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year.

Spencer also played softball at Bentley for three years, earning the team MVP award in 1997.

A native of Athol, Mass., also served as an Assistant Director of Athletics and Sports Information Director at Lasell. She received her BA from Bentley in marketing and her Masters of Science Degree in management, with a concentration in marketing, from Lasell (2006).

Spencer is a member of the NFHCA Board of Directors, serving a three-year term representing Division II coaches, and is also the chair of the Northeast-10 field hockey coaches.

Spencer holds USFHA Level 1 and Level 2 coaching licenses, and is also an NCAA Women's Coaching Academy 1.0 and 2.0 graduate.
