Graduate student and linebacker who is pursuing a Masters in Marketing Analytics … graduated cum laude May 16, 2015 with a BS in finance … minored in law … shifted to the defense last year after coming in as a wide receiver … transferred to Bentley after spending one year at the University of Redlands … enters 2015 with 47 tackles in 21 career games … one of two Californians on this year’s roster (Clayton Dale) … two varsity letters.

2014: Gave the Falcons 42 tackles while appearing in 11 games, all but one as a starter … also had seven tackles for losses, one sack, one interception, three QB hurries and three pass break-ups … career high seven tackles and a sack Nov. 8 at LIU Post … had an interception Sept. 27 against New Haven.

2013: Saw action in ten games during his first Bentley season … caught three passes, including a 27-yarder against Saint Anselm Oct. 5 … was involved in five special teams tackles.

Personal: 2011 graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School … earned three varsity letters in football and one in track … two-time first-team All-Conference and second-team All-County … played in Alex Spanos San Diego County All-Star Game … Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society … age as of Sept. 1: 22 … son of Edward and Janet Mattern.
