Career Notes
Bentley’s first CoSIDA Academic All-America since Joe Betley in 1980 … resume also includes All-Northeast-10 and two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 … 761 points and 298 rebounds in 47 career games (32 starts) with his scoring average of 16.2 points (entering this season) seventh best in program history … has also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals as a Falcon.

2014-15 Season
Became Bentley’s first men’s basketball Academic All-America in 35 years with selection to the Capital One first team … Northeast-10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award winner for men’s basketball, in addition to earning Academic All-Northeast-10 for the second straight season … Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award as Bentley’s premier senior scholar-athlete … selected 3rd-team All-Northeast-10 after averaging 19.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists … that combined production level has never been achieved by a Bentley player and hasn’t been accomplished by an NE-10 player in more than a decade … led team in assists (97) and three-pointers (66) while ranking second in most other categories … was fifth in the Northeast-10 in scoring, as well as fifth in points per 40 minutes (23.2), eighth in field goals (186), ninth in three-pointers per game (2.4), tenth in defensive rebounds (5.3), 11th in three-pointers (66), 11th in assists, 12th in rebounds and 12th in points (513) … ranked 48th in Division II in scoring … scored at least 20 points nine times, including four straight games from Dec. 6-19, a stretch in which he averaged 25.2 points … his four double-doubles included 31 points and 11 rebounds against Holy Family Nov. 15, 27 points and 12 rebounds at Stonehill Feb. 21, and 19 points and 14 rebounds at Franklin Pierce Feb. 24 … had multiple three-pointers 21 times, including the season’s final four games … Northeast-10/Spalding Player of the Week once (Dec. 15) … Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll 11 times (Nov. 17, 24, Dec. 8, 22, Jan. 5, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23, Mar. 2).

2013-14 Season
Averaged 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 22.4 minutes while appearing in the first 20 games of his collegiate career … was second on team in rebounds and third in scoring … shot .513 overall, .426 from three and .775 at the foul line … team’s top scorer six times and leading rebounder in four games … started the season’s final five contests and produced 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists a game in that role … outstanding student who earned Academic All-Northeast-10 honors … averaged 22.1 points per 40 minutes, the seventh best output in the NE-10 … Bentley’s leading scorer (19.5 ppg) during the Northeast-10 Championships … scored 12 points off the bench against Concordia (N.Y.) on Nov. 8, his first game experience since his senior year of high school (2009-10) … scored in doubles 14 times with a high of 25 at Saint Rose Feb. 28 in the first round of the NE-10 Championships … also had four rebounds, four assists and zero turnovers in that game against the Golden Knights … previous high of 21 was achieved at Southern New Hampshire Feb. 19, his first career start … on the road, shot 56 percent overall and 52 percent from three while averaging 14.7 points … after missing his first 11 three-pointers, shot .535 from downtown over his last 15 games … had his first career double-double Feb. 25 vs. Franklin Pierce (18 points, 10 rebounds) … four steals vs. Southern Connecticut Jan. 11 … missed nine games from Nov. 13-Dec. 21 due to mono … Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll twice (Feb. 24, Mar. 3).

2012-13 Season
Due to injury, did not see any game action.

Before Bentley
2010 graduate of South Portland High School who attended Gonzaga University (fall 2010) and Fairfield University (2011-12) before enrolling at Bentley in the fall of 2012 … didn’t see playing time with either program as injuries hampered him at Gonzaga and NCAA transfer regulations kept him on the sidelines at Fairfield … injuries also sidelined him for all but three games of his senior year at South Portland … concluded that season with 32 points in a loss to Westbrook in the Western Maine Class A semifinals … averaged 27.7 points as a junior and finished as South Portland’s all-time leading scorer (1,110 points) … two-year captain at South Portland … 1st-team All-State as a sophomore and junior … SMAA 2008-09 Player of the Year … three-time first-team All-SMAA … once scored 47 points vs. Thornton Academy … also lettered in tennis and soccer.

Personal
Outstanding student who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in finance May 16, 2015 … is now pursuing a masters in finance … age as of Nov. 15: 23 … son of Tom and Andrea Hyland … has one brother, Tanner (20) … Tanner is a sophomore basketball player at Le Moyne … uncle, Ray Hyland, is in the Iona College Goal Club Hall of Fame … SAAC representative … President’s or Dean’s List every semester in college, including four at Bentley … National Honors Society … Boys and Girls Club volunteer.
