WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Bentley University women's swim team, following an undefeated regular season and a second place finish in the Northeast-10 Championships, will be looking to reclaim the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association championship this weekend, a title that has eluded the Falcons since 2007.
The 2011 NEISDA Championships will be held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt., beginning Friday morning and running through Sunday evening. Prelims each day will get underway at 10 am, and the finals each night will start at 5:30 pm. Over 20 teams are expected to compete.
Bentley senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS), who has already locked up a third straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships, has the top seed time in three individual events, including the 100 butterfly and 200 fly, both of which the seven-time gold-medal winner will be looking to win for the fourth straight time.
Kaduboski, who won gold three times last year, is also number one on the seed list in the 200 backstroke and is second in the 400 individual medley. She will have to pass on one of the events as each athlete is limited to three individual and four relay events.
Sophomore Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) captured both the 50 breaststroke and 100 breast last year, and has the top entry time in both of those events this year. She's also number one in the 200 breast and is second in the 200 IM.
Bentley's other number one qualifying time in the individual events belongs to junior Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) in the grueling 1650 freestyle. She's also number two in the 1000 free.
In addition, the Falcons are the pre-meet favorite in three relays.
Following the diving portion of the meet, which was held last weekend, Bentley will enter the swimming events with 158 points and a lead of 94 points over both Westfield State and three-time defending champion Keene State.
