NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- For the third consecutive year, Bentley University senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass./Dedham HS) has captured the Northeast-10 Conference championship in the 100 yard butterfly.
Kaduboski made it a three-peat on Saturday evening during the second day of competition at the 2011 NE-10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, which are being held at Southern Connecticut State University.
Kaduboski won the event in 57.12 seconds, besting Pace University's Kaitlyn Lynch by 0.66 seconds and bettering the meet record by almost a quarter of a second. It was also a school record, improving on the mark she set in 2009 by 0.26 seconds and an NCAA "B" cut performance.
Bentley sophomore Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) earned silver in the 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:05.63 an NCAA "B" cut. Also in the 100 breast, junior Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y./Watkins Glen HS) and freshman Erin Campbell (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield HS) were sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 1:08.04 and 1:09.09.
Kaduboski and Hodsdon were also part of the Falcons' 200 medley relay team that finished second and set a school record of 1:48.39, 0.31 seconds better than the standard set last February. Also part of that relay were sophomores Taryn Dooley (Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam HS) and Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS).
Dooley had Bentley's other top eight finish of day 2, placing sixth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.42.
In the 800 free relay, Kaduboski anchored a quartet that was fifth in 8:03.64. Preceding her into the pool were freshmen Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS) and Amy Shin (Lancaster, Mass./ Nashoba Reg. HS), and junior Susie Boretti (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy).
In the team standings, Bentley is second among eight teams with 420 points. Southern Connecticut State will enter Sunday's final day of competition with a commanding 261 point lead. The College of Saint Rose is third, 83 points back of the Falcons.
