BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore Amy Shin (Lancaster/Nashoba Reg. HS) won two events and ten teammates also turned in winning individual efforts as the Bentley University women's swim team swam to a 185-93 win at Bridgewater State University Tuesday night at Bridgewater's Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.
Shin was victorious in the 100 yard freestyle, posting a time of 57.46 seconds, and in the 100 individual medley, in 1:06.48.
Also winning freestyle events for the Falcons were freshman Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) in the 50 (26.85), senior Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) in the 500 (5:38.37) and sophomore Heather Exley (Oceanside, Calif./Vista HS) in the 1000 (11:30.09).
Junior Taryn Dooley (Feeding Hills/Agawam HS) and sophomore Caroline Lewis (Westfield/ Westfield HS) took the backstroke events with Dooley posting a 30.40 in the 50 and Lewis a 1:03.87 in the 100. In the butterfly, junior Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) took the 50 in 28.75 and sophomore Kellen Power (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) touched first in the 100 (1:02.17).
Senior Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y./Ichabod Crane HS), in her final career dual meet, posted a victory in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:13.60.
Bentley swept the diving with junior Shelly D'Aleo (Enfield/Suffield Academy) taking the one meter with a score of 231.25 and classmate Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was first in the three-meter, with a 246.55.
Bentley, which completed its dual schedule with a record of 8-1, will return to action Feb. 2-4 when the Northeast-10 Conference Championships are held at Southern Connecticut State.
