Le Excels for Bentley Women in Pace Invitational

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior Amanda Le (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford HS) led the Bentley University women's swim team during the Pace Invitational as she won three of the four individual events she swam and also participated on a winning relay team.

In the two-day meet that concluded on Saturday, Le had the Falcons' only three individual victories as she was first to the wall in the 200 yard individual medley (2:13.71), the 200 breaststroke (2:27.28) and the 100 breast (1:09.77). She also finished second in the 400 IM (4:53.12) and helped Bentley capture the 400 medley relay, competing with junior Caroline Lewis (Westfield, Mass./ Westfield HS) and seniors Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/Brewer HS) and Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) for a time of 4:07.22.

Bentley was perfect in the relays, winning all four with Drogosz the one constant. In the 200 free, she paired with Hodsdon, sophomore Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) and freshman Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Acad.) to win in 1:42.32.

The quartet of Drogosz, Hodsdon and freshman Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies) finished the 200 medley in 1:56.32, and Bentley also captured the 400 free relay with Drogosz, sophomore Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS), Goodwin and Hellstern recording a season-best 3:51.07.

Edwards was second in three freestyle events, with times of 2:02.62 in the 200, a season-best 5:24.07 in the 500 and 18:46.22 in the lengthy 1,650.

Bentley's other seconds were posted by Hodsdon in the 100 fly (1:02.06) and freshman Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) in both diving events. She posted a score of 241.45 on the one-meter and registered a 268.75 on the three-meter.

The Falcons also picked up seven three-place finishes in the four-team meet, including Hodsdon in both the 200 IM (2:18.29) and the 200 breast (2:36.40). The others were posted by Lewis in the 100 back (1:03.90), Hellstern in the 100 free (57.01), Clauss in the 200 butterfly (2:21.23), senior Shelly D'Aleo (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) on the one-meter board (232.20) and senior Abby Mathews (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford HS) off the three-meter (223.40).

The non-scoring meet was the last competition for the Bentley women until after the calendar changes to 2013.
