WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's swimming and diving team captured all 16 events en route to its fourth straight victory, 160-112 over visiting Norwich University Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.
Sophomores Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) and Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) were both double-winners for the Falcons as was freshman Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS).
Bury turned in winning efforts in the 50 yard backstroke (26.36 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (50.43) after anchoring the Falcons' winning 200 medley relay, which finished the meet's opening event in 1:44.75. Wilson captured the two longest events with times of 10:34.82 in the 1000 free and 5:02.33 in the 500 free.
Bridge had the best scores in the two diving competitions, scoring a 242.55 off the one-meter board and a 246.75 from the three-meter. Both were season bests for Bridge, who qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships Friday night.
Other winners for Bentley included seniors Peter Belanger (Andover/Andover HS) in the 50 butterfly (25.53), Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) in the 50 breaststroke (29.69) and Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) in the 50 free (22.80).
The list of first-place swimmers also included a trio of sophomores. Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./ Brighton HS) touched first in the 200 free (1:50.54), Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) registered a 57.18 in the 100 back, and Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS) won the 100 fly in 55.49.
The other firsts were posted by freshmen Evan Koeber (Boulder, Colo./Fairview HS), in the 100 breast (1:06.77), and Gregory Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North HS), in the 200 individual medley (2:06.80).
The diving competition also included Tufts University and Keene State, with the women participating as well.
Bentley sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) had a strong performance with her 312.55 from the three-meter board setting a new pool record and breaking her own school record of 305.55, set against Keene State last January. She also scored a 267.10 from the one-meter board.
On the men's side, Tufts' Johann Schmidt achieved a new men's pool record from the three-meter with a 373.95.
Bentley, 4-2 on the year, will return to action Dec. 7-8 with the WPI Invitational.
