Jameson & Pernsteiner Help Bentley Close Out Dual Season With Win at Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Led by freshman Brooke Jameson (Bedford/Bedford HS) and senior Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hawken School), the Bentley University women's swimming and diving team closed out its dual schedule with a 158-108 victory over Bridgewater State University Tuesday evening at Bridgewater.

The Falcons captured all 16 events to finish with a 10-2 record.

Jameson and Pernsteiner combined with junior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and freshman Madison Damphousse (Marshfield/Marshfield HS) for a time of 4:24.60 as the Falcons opened the meet with a victory in the 400 yard medley relay. Jameson was also in the pool for the meet's final event, helping Bentley claim the 200 free relay in 1:47.53. That quartet also included senior Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island HS) and sophomores Jess Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) and Makaila Williams (Hyde Park/Acad. of the Pacific Rim).

In between, Pernsteiner posted wins in the two backstroke events with times of 1:04.68 in the 100 and 2:19.18 in the 200. Jameson swam to victory in the 200 butterfly (2:35.61) and the 500 freestyle (5:27.87).

Freshmen accounted for seven of the Falcons' 12 individual swimming victories. In addition to the two by Jameson, Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) was first to the wall in the 200 free (2:03.85) and 200 individual medley (2:17.81), Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) captured the 1000 free (11:10.23) and the 100 fly (1:03.53), and Hannah Rauch (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park HS) was first in the 50 free (26.65).

Senior All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) posted winning scores in both diving events, registering scores of 294.15 (one meter) and 310.70 (three meter).

Bentley's other winners were McGahie in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.72), sophomore Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) in the 200 breast (2:33.14) and Chen in the 100 free (57.80).

Bentley will return to action February 4 when the four-day Northeast-10 Conference Championships get underway at WPI.
