Franklin Pierce Slips Past Bentley, 4-3

Waltham, Mass. – The doubles point was the difference for a second straight match for Bentley, as they dropped a close 4-3 decision to Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

The Ravens' wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches gave them that point, and the teams split the six singles matches to give the visitors a 4-3 victory. Bentley's win in doubles came in No. 1, from Hannah Fabianski (Stonington, Conn./Pawcatuck) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable), who defeated Alana Wyatt and Brigid Washburn, 6-3.

In singles play, the Falcons won the No. 2, 3, and 5 matches. Sophomore Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mount Westonka) got the better of Grayson LaCroix 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. Tynan's second win of the day came over Sarah Rich in No. 3, in three sets, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1. Freshman Courtney Flynn (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) then defeated Kelly O'Donnell in No. 5, 6-4, 6-4.

It's a quick turnaround for Bentley, who next travel to Stonehill tomorrow afternoon.
