WORCESTER, Mass. – With senior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) swimming the final leg, the Bentley University Falcons finished the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships by earning gold in the 400 yard freestyle relay and breaking a school record for the ninth time during the weekend. The championships, held at WPI, concluded Sunday evening.
Kaduboski, Bentley's top scorer during the championships with 57 points, was preceded into the pool by classmates Brooke Jameson (Bedford/Bedford HS) and Hannah Rauch (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park HS), as well as freshman Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS). They put up a winning time of 3:31.07, bettering a three-year old record of 3:32.20 that included Jameson and Kaduboski when they were freshmen.
As a team- Bentley finished second for the first time since 2015, ending a string of three straight third-place finishes. The Falcons amassed 775 points during the four-day meet and finished 125.5 behind Assumption College. Southern Connecticut was third with 758.5.
Sunday's action for the Falcons included three silver medals, including Rauch in the 1650 freestyle. She finished the grueling event in 17:217.89, striking the 17:32.18 held by senior Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/ Lubbock HS) from the record book. Viator was fourth in 17:42.58 and sophomore Julia Ball (Phoenix, Md./Roland Park Country School) took seventh with an 18:12.02.
Kaduboski earned the silver in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:04.00. In the same event, junior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) was seventh (2:06.18).
In the three-meter diving, junior Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) led three Falcons with a second-place finish (336.10). Freshman Sarah Vojta (Morris Plains, N.J./Morris County School of Technology) was fourth (306.25) and sophomore Ryann Driscoll (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) finished sixth (274.30.)
Slowe was Bentley's other medal winner on Sunday as she won the bronze in the 100 free (52.65).
Freshman Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) was fourth in the 200 fly (2:06.98), junior Ari Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) sixth in the 200 breast (2:27.02) and Jameson was seventh in the 100 free (53.74) in her final individual swim as a collegian.
During the meet, Bentley was the recipient of 14 medals, including five golds.
