Gold Medalists Slowe & Huminski Lead Bentley During Day 3 of NE10 Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley University women's swimming and diving team saw sophomore Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) and freshman Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) turn in gold medal-winning performances during Day 3 of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Saturday at WPI's Sports and Recreation Center.

Huminski, who earned gold on Friday off the three-meter board, made it a sweep by capturing the one-meter diving with an impressive tally of 432.70. Senior Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./ Wethersfield HS) claimed silver for the second straight day, finishing 21.5 points in back of her teammate. In fifth place was junior Ryann Driscoll (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) with a 350.50.

Bentley also went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle with Slowe breaking the school record on route to the gold. Her time of 1:53.18 was an NCAA "B" cut and an improvement of 1.07 seconds over the mark set by Brooke Jameson last year. Freshman Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS), the runner-up with a 1:53.49, also bettered the existing school record and senior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) was fifth in 1:55.74.

The other Falcon to medal on Saturday was freshman Kathryn Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) with a third in the 100 butterfly (58.12).

Other Bentley day 3 highlights included senior Ariana Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.74), sophomore Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) fifth in the 100 fly (59.37), MacNeil sixth in the 100 back (59.30) and Selin Karadeniz (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington HS) seventh in the 400 individual medley (4:42.37).

Bentley was also fifth in the 200 medley relay with MacNeil, Revelas, Mejiritski and junior Emily LaRovere (Lynnfeld/Phillips Exeter Acad.) finishing in 1:50.19.

In the team standings, Bentley is third with 489.5 points. It's a tight battle at the top with Assumption leading Southern Connecticut by 5.5 points, 583.5-578.

The championships conclude Sunday with prelims at 10:15 am and the finals at 5:30 pm.
