Bentley Women Finish 3rd in NE10 Championships; Huminski Named Most Outstanding Diver

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships concluded Sunday evening at WPI's Sports and Recreation Center with the Bentley University Falcons finishing in third place among eight teams. It marked the tenth straight year that the Falcons have finished in the top ten.

Bentley, which finished the weekend with four golds, four silvers and five bronze medals, totaled 703.5 points during the four-day meet. Southern Connecticut State captured the team championship by 32.5 points over Assumption, 863-830-5.

Freshman Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) was named the Women's Most Outstanding Diver after sweeping the diving competitions. She scored 387.65 points from the three-meter board on Friday and 432.70 from the one-meter Saturday.

Three of Bentley's medals were earned on Sunday, with freshmen Kathryn Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) and Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) each making two trips to the awards podium.

Galvin finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with her time of 52.19 seconds breaking the school record of 52.34 she set in the same pool back in December. Gonzales earned bronze in the 200 back, reaching the wall in 2:06.78.

Those two concluded the championships by helping Bentley earn silver in the 400 free relay. They combined with sophomore Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) and junior Emily LaRovere (Lynnfield/ Phillips Exeter Acad.) for a 332.06.

Galvin medaled in all seven events she competed in, finishing with gold in the 800 free relay, two silvers and four bronze.

Sunday's finals also included a fourth from senior Ariana Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.31), a fifth from sophomore Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) in the 200 butterfly (2:08.80) and a sixth from junior Kayla Metivier (Kingston, N.H./Sanborn Reg.
