Galvin Leads Bentley Women to 176-104 Win over Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Competing about 25 miles from her hometown, Bentley University junior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) won three individual events and was part of a winning relay as the Falcon women's swimming and diving team improved to 5-1 with a 176-104 win over Pace University at the Goldstein Athletics Center.

Bentley, 36-1 since October 2017, captured 15 of the meet's 16 events to earn the convincing victory.

Galvin turned in winning performances in the 200 yard freestyle (2:00.25), the 100 free (55.50) and the 50 butterfly (27.72). The 200 free was a close one as she edged senior teammate Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) by 0,22 seconds.

In addition, Galvin opened the meet as the anchor of Bentley's winning 200 medley relay (1:56.31). That quartet also included sophomore Emily Blatt (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) and freshmen Cleo Zhou (Sharon, Mass./Sharon HS) and Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS).

Blatt was a double-winner as her day also included victories in the 50 breaststroke (32.58) and the 100 breast (1:10.52). Zhou recorded a first-place finish in the 50 back (30.62) and Nuzback earned the win in the 100 individual medley (1:04.67).

Sophomore Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) gained two victories while spending almost 24 minutes in the pool. She was the first to the wall in the 1650 free (18:25.83), the fastest time of the year by an NE10 swimmer in the event, and also captured the 500 free (5:23.53).

Junior Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) continued to excel in the diving events as she earned wins off both the one meter (279.30) and three meter (247.80) boards.

Other winners for Bentley were Mejiritski in the 100 fly (1:01.99), senior Hanna Ryan (North Royalton, Ohio / Brecksville Broadview Heights HS) in the 50 free (26.51) and junior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) In the 100 back (1:01.32). Mejiritski's win in the 100 fly came by only 19 seconds over Gonzales.
