Galvin Earns 4th Gold of Championships; Bentley Stands in 3rd Place

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bentley University junior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) earned gold for the fourth time in three days by capturing the 200-yard freestyle Saturday during day three of the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Southern Connecticut State University's Hutchinson Natatorium.

Galvin reached the wall in 1:53.50, finishing 2.43 seconds head of teammate and classmate Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS). She had previously stood atop the podium following victories in the 800 free relay, the 50 free and the 400 medley relay.

Those two were also part of Bentley's 200 medley relay which earned silver in 1:48.64. Gonzales led off, Galvin anchored and the middle two were sophomore Emily Blatt (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) and freshman Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS).

Nuzback also earned a trip to the podium with a silver medal in the 100 butterfly, achieved in 57.46.

Bentley's other day three medalist was Blatt in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.08). Her night also included an eighth-place showing in the 200 free (2:02.46).

Senior Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) and junior Jennifer Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400 individual medley. Mejiritski posted a 4:42.15 and Chen a 4:46.28.

Bentley's other top eight finish came from senior Taylor Gangi (Waltham, Mass./Waltham HS), who was eighth in the 100 breast (1:10.27).

In the prelims of the one-meter diving, freshman Hilla Almog (Billerica, Mass./Billerica HS) and junior Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) set the stage for what should be an outstanding final on Sunday. Almog amassed 430.10 points and Huminski, the defending champion, was a close second with 425.20.

Southern Connecticut State is at the top of the team leaderboard with 649 points. Assumption University is second with 502 and the Falcons are right behind with 485.

The championships conclude Sunday with prelims at 9:45 am and the finals at 6 pm.
