Hapkiewicz Narrowly Misses All-America Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bentley University sophomore Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./ South Windsor HS) missed All-America honors by a slim margin Saturday while placing 17th in the 1650 yard freestyle during the final day of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Athletic Center.

Hapkiewicz reached the wall in 17:16.48, trailing Lindenwood's Jana Hellemschmidt, whose 16th place finish in 17:16.41 was good for second-team All-America recognition.

Hapkiewicz, who was seeded 22nd in the event, previously set a school record in the 1000 and also swam the 500 during her inaugural trip to the nationals.
