Vizental & Huminski Capture Gold During Day 3 of Northeast-10 Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Seniors Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) and Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) earned gold medals during day three of the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Huminski swept the diving for the third time as she made it a three-peat as one-meter champion. She totaled a career-best 435.80 to finish 21.25 points in front of runner-up and teammate Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS). Huminski's previous championships came in 2022 and 2020, with the 2021 meet cancelled due to CoVID-19.

Bentley also went one-two in the men's 100 yard butterfly with Vizental touching first in 49.34 seconds and senior Ryan Looney (Wilton, Conn./Wilton HS) following in 50.93. Vizental, a day after breaking the school record in the 200 free, took possession of the 200 fly standard, which was previously set by Paul Homorodean in 2020.

The Falcons collected a total of ten medals Saturday evening, six seconds and two thirds in addition to the two golds.

Other silver medalists were senior Michael Motisi (Ellington, Conn./Ellington HS) in the 400 individual medley (4:08.57), freshman Morgan Kingsley (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia HS) in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.76) and both Bentley 200 medley relay teams. The women finished in 1:47.81 and the men broke the school record by 0.19 seconds with a 1:33.07.

Swimming for the women were freshman Taylor White (Warwick, Bermuda/Warwick Academy), junior Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford Academy), Nuzback and senior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS). For the men, it was sophomore Calvin Ye (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber HS), Vizental and Looney.

Both bronze medalists came in the 100 backstroke , Ye (52.87) and White (59.07).

Just missing a trip to the podium by one place were freshman Grace Motisi (Ellington, Conn./Ellington HS) in the 400 individual medley (4:42.96), sophomore Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS) in the 100 fly (58.46), senior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) in the 200 freestyle (1:55.29) and Blatt in the 100 breast (1:07.64).

Placing fifth were sophomore Kai West (Kailua, Hawaii/Kailua HS) in the 400 IM (4:18.93) and freshman Lily Rice (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle HS) in the 100 fly (58.50).

Bentley also received sixth-place performances from sophomore Kenneth Ryu (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola HS) in the 100 breast (58.70) and junior Sergio Torres (Guaynabo, P.R./Commonwealth Parkville School) in the 200 free (1:45.94).

Both Bentley teams continue to stand in second place, both trailing Southern Connecticut State. The men, with 410, are 47 points back, and the women are 165.5 points back, 740.5-575.

The championships will conclude Sunday with prelims at 10:15 am and finals at 5:30 pm.
