INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Bentley University junior Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) finished 44th in the prelims of the 500 yard freestyle Friday morning during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Hapkiewicz, the Northeast-10 Conference champion in the event, posted a time of 5:04.73, 4.45 seconds off the school record she achieved while winning gold at the conference championships last month.
The 500 was the second of three events that Hapkiewicz is swimming during her second trip to the nationals. On Wednesday, she placed 26th in the 1000.
Hapkiewicz will be back in the pool Saturday morning for the 1650 freestyle.
