WATERBURY, Conn. – The Bentley football team scored 27 first-quarter points en route to a 61-28 win at Post Saturday afternoon. The Falcons ran all over the Eagles to the tune of 231 rushing yards. It was Bentley's most rushing yards since putting up 334 yards on the ground against Post in September 2023. The 61 points are the most in a game by Bentley since last year's 62-12 win over American International.
Vinnie Holmes led the ground effort with 107 yards and three touchdowns. It was his second 100-yard game of the season, though he has two 99-yard games to his name this fall.
Graduate student defensive lineman
Zachary Goodwin reprised a role he hasn't had since the home-opener against Southern Connecticut (Sept. 20). Goodwin scored on a three-yard carry in the first quarter against Post, and he rumbled into the end zone from one yard out in the third quarter. Goodwin scored his first-career touchdown by punching in a three-yard carry during Bentley's win over Southern Connecticut.
Joshua Compoh and
Alex Berrouet also scored for Bentley, both on the ground.
Although Bentley dominated in the run game, it was the defense and special teams that set the tone. The Eagles had the first possession of the game, but the Falcons forced a three-and-out. Post lined up to punt from its own 26-yard line, and
Day Garcia came flying in to block the kick.
Santi Quiceno picked up the loose ball and took it to the house for the first points of the game.
Garcia wasn't done making plays on special teams. He blocked another punt in the fourth quarter – and this time it was
Eman Nda who picked up the ball and took it 10 yards to the end zone for six points.
Defensively,
Matt Duchemin intercepted a pass, while
Henry Schouten,
Christian Zamor, and
Micye Duntin each recorded a sack.
Bentley has a bye week before heading to Franklin Pierce, Nov. 9.
