Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Three Falcons put away double-digit kills to lead the Bentley volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19) win over Bridgeport in the Dana Center Wednesday night. It was Bentley's 11
th consecutive win.
Caitlin Wunder had a team-high 13 kills, while
Rachel Vitko and
Elizabeth Blinn both added 10.
Tory Vitko totaled 31 assists, one shy of her season high.Â
Lauren McCloskey was nearly a fourth Falcon with double-digit kills. She finished with nine.
The Falcons won the first two sets and appeared poised for their fourth consecutive sweep. However, the Purple Knights stayed tough in the third set.
Neither team led by more than two points in the third frame, until the final point. Both sides were knotted up at 18, but then Bridgeport put away a kill and didn't allow the Falcons to pull even from there. A kill by
Hannah Rounds brought the Falcons to within 20-19, and later a kill by
Rachel Vitko kept Bentley within a point, 22-21. The Purple Knights had a 23-22 edge when a kill and a Bentley forced the teams into a fourth set. Â
The early part of the fourth set was closely contested, 7-6 in favor of Bentley, until a
Rachel Vitko kill sparked a decisive run. From there, Blinn served up four consecutive points, including a couple of aces. Bentley's lead in the set reached double digits, 20-10.
The Falcons return to Northeast-10 action at Saint Anselm Friday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m.
