WALTHAM, Mass. – Making her postseason debut, Bentley volleyball freshman
Sophia Poehlein led all players with 12 kills as the #2 Falcons swept #7 Saint Michae's (25-17, 25-15, 25-11) in a Northeast-10 Quarterfinal match in the Dana Center Tuesday night.
Bentley advances to the NE10 Semifinals in Springfield, Mass. this Friday. The Falcons will take on #3 New Haven in a rematch of last year's semifinal loss.
Poehlein attacked at a remarkable .632 clip against the Purple Knights, easily her best mark of the season (min. three sets). She continues to lead Bentley this fall in kills per set (2.84). Â
The Falcons put away 13 service aces, including seven by
Natalie Thom. Bentley's service is a big reason why Saint Michael's hit just .041.
As a team, Bentley hit .389 Tuesday night – its third most efficient attack of the season. Freshman
Tory Vitko tallied 29 assists.
