Bentley Battles Back Late to Earn 2-2 Draw with No. 8 Franklin Pierce

WALTHAM, Mass. – Chad Meyers scored goals in the 85th and 88th minutes to help Bentley battle back and earn a 2-2 draw with No. 8 ranked Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 with a little over five minutes to go, Meyers' two goals helped the Falcons turn it around and earn a Northeast 10 point against the two-time defending NCAA Div. II national champions.

The Falcons finished the regular season unbeaten at home (6-0-1) and their NE10 record goes to 4-3-1.

Meyers first scored with a brilliant free kick from about 25 yards out to the upper right corner to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 85th minute.

Two minutes later and on their next trip into the attacking zone, Luke Hanchar drew a foul in the 18-yard box to give the Falcons a penalty kick.

Meyers was chosen to take it, and the grad student from Long Island coolly struck his shot into the lower right corner to tie the score in the 88th minute.

The final two minutes wound down and both teams received a point in the standings for the 2-2 draw.

The first half was scoreless, but Franklin Pierce took the lead on goals in the 59th and 62nd minutes.

Bentley will close out the regular season on the road, when they visit Saint Michael's on Wednesday night.
