Cooper Farrall (Valparaiso, Ind./Culver Academies) combined for 50 points and 22 rebounds as the Bentley University men's basketball team opened its season with a wire-to-wire 85-56 non-conference win over Georgian Court University Saturday afternoon on the Dana Center's Barbara Stevens Court.
McClure finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, and both Farrall and Misic scored 15. Farrall, in addition to a career-best point total, had nine rebounds and two steals. Misic's day included five rebounds and four blocks.
Bentley opened the game by scoring the first nine points. Farrall had a second-chance lay-up and Misic scored the next seven.
After the Lions drew within two at 28-26, McClure fueled a 17-3 surge that made it a 45-29 game with two-and-a-half minutes left until the halftime break. He had nine of the 17 and Farrall helped out with five.
Misic opened the second half by scoring the first five points and the Falcons remained comfortably in front the rest of the way. The final 29-point spread was the largest of the afternoon.
Bentley struggled from three, making only six of 27, but was successful on 55 percent of its two-point attempts. Overall, shooting accuracy favored the home team, 43-29 percent overall. The Falcons kept GCU to only five baskets in 28 attempts after intermission.
It was total domination for the Falcons on the boards, 57-30, with seven different players claiming at least five.
Bentley had advantages of 48-20 in the paint, 17-6 in second chance points and 14-7 in assists, with graduate guard
Aaron Latham (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury HS) responsible for six assists. He also had six rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore
Justin Harper (Bridgeton, N.J.) led Georgian Court with 18 points.
Bentley's next game is also at home, Wednesday evening against Post University.
