Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Career Game by Farrall Helps Bentley Post 6th Straight Road Win, 82-69

RINDGE, N.H. – A day after being named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week, Bentley University sophomore forward Cooper Farrall (Valparaiso, Ind./Culver Academies) posted career highs in points and rebounds for the second time in a week as the Falcons won at Franklin Pierce University, 82-69, Tuesday night in NE10 Men's Basketball at the Fieldhouse.

Farrall finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds, surpassing his previous bests of 26 and 11, which were achieved last Wednesday against St. Michael's College. The double-double was his fifth of the season.

It was the sixth straight road win for coach Jay Lawson's Falcons, who also received 19 points and seven rebounds from junior guard Cash McClure (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook HS).  Bentley, 8-2 in its last ten, improved to 9-6 overall and 6-3 conference, good for sole possession of fourth place.

After scoring the final four points of the first half to go up 34-30, the Falcons exploded out of the second half gate with 11 straight points resulting in a 45-30 lead. After making only two of 12 from distance in the first, Bentley hit its first four shots after play resumed, three of those from downtown.

McClure hit a long ball from out front, Farrall scored on a fast break, graduate forward Ivan Misic (Toronto, Ont.) finished a break with a three from the left wing and Farrall sank a triple from the right side.

After the Ravens (2-14, 1-8 NE10) closed to within four, Farrall scored the next six to push the Falcon advantage back to ten, 61-51 with 8:13 left. He made a pair of free throws, scored on a fast break after a steal by junior forward Joe Carroll (Cedar Grove, N.J./Don Bosco), and threw down a dunk after his own steal, with Carroll assisting.

The difference remained between nine and 14 points the rest of the way.

The first half saw Bentley score 26 of its 34 points in the paint and Franklin Pierce make seven of 13 from deep. That featured a five-of-six performance off the bench from Raven sophomore guard Trevon Thomas (Oak Park, Ill.).

The Falcons spread the first half scoring around with Farrall, McClure and junior forward Chase Clarke (Bloomfield, N.J./Newark Academy) all scoring seven.

For the game, Bentley crushed the home team in the paint, 56-22. The Falcons were 28 of 39 (.718) inside the arc and shot .558 overall, the eighth time in 11 games they've been over .500 from the field.

Franklin Pierce, held to 12 of 40 on two-point attempts (30 percent), was 10 of 20 from three-point land. Thomas, who had only 27 points in seven games this season, finished with a career-best 22 and was six of eight on threes. Graduate  student Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn.), the NE10's number two scorer, was held to 16 points on 5-of-17 shooting.

Farrall (10-16 FG) and McClure (8-15) were joined in doubles by Clarke, with 14 points off the bench on 6-of-7 shooting.

The Falcons had the rebound advantage (38-31) while free throws made (15-11) and turnovers (7-9) favored Franklin Pierce.

Bentley will be back in action Saturday with a home game against Saint Anselm.
