WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley volleyball team celebrated its seniors in style by sweeping Southern Connecticut State, 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-15), for the Falcons' 11 consecutive win Friday night. Before the start of the match, the Falcons (15-4, 5-0 NE10) celebrated their three seniors and their loved ones:
Elizabeth Blinn,
Erica Borzone,
Hannah Rounds.
Blinn finished the match with nine kills while attacking at a .368 clip. She added six blocks in the three sets. Borzone came away with 20 digs, matching her career-high. She previously had 20 digs in a win over Molloy this season (Sept. 19). Rounds totaled five kills and eight digs in the win over the Owls.
Southern Connecticut's size at the net frustrated Bentley early in the first set. During a 5-1 run by the Owls (11-4, 2-1 NE10), Bentley committed a four attack errors – and added a service error – to give Southern Connecticut a 10-8 lead.
Down 14-11, the Falcons put together a 7-0 run to take command of not only the first set – but the rest of the match. Southern Connecticut never held a lead in the second set, and Bentley's largest deficit in the third set was only one point.
Bentley has a quick turnaround when it hosts American International Saturday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. The contest is the
Sandy Hoffman Dig Lavender Match.
