AMHERST, Mass. – Bentley was denied in overtime on a goal by UMass' Francesco Dell'Elce as the #11 ranked Minutemen escaped with a 5-4 win.
Bentley took a 4-3 lead 8:40 into the second period on a goal by
Jimmy Doyle and held that lead into the third period. UMass though got the tying goal from defenseman Larry Keenan at the 9:46 mark and regulation ended with the teams tied 4-4.
In the 3-on-3 overtime, defenseman Dell'Elce scored with a shot from just inside the left faceoff circle 1:08 into the extra period.
The Falcons and Minutemen went back and forth in the opening period that ended with the teams tied 3-3.

Stephen Castagna scored 1:56 into the game on the power play after he redirected a shot in front of the net that came from
Oskar Bakkevig on the point.
UMass scored two in a row at the 4:29 and 6:39 marks, but just 32 seconds after the second goal Bentley tied it as
Dylan Cook lit the lamp with his first goal as a Falcon after he tipped-in a shot from
Tobias Larsen.
Bentley then went in front 3-2 on Castagna's second goal of the period at the 16:48 mark after he finished off a two-on-one with Cook with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle.

Jimmy Doyle gave the Falcons the lead at 8:40. Doyle made the play happen with a steal in the defensive zone leading to a breakaway, which he finished with a backhander for the goal.

Bentley now turns its attention towards its home opener and its first Atlantic Hockey game of the season on Friday night against Canisius.
