Lang Wins Three Races at WPI Gompei Invitational; Sets School Record in 100 IM

WORCESTER, Mass. – Skyla Lang won three individual races to help Bentley to a combined second place finish at the WPI Gompei Invitational this weekend. She broke her own school record in the 100 IM.

Lang had the previous record of 59.75, swimming that exact time at both the 2023 and 2024 Gompei Invites. 

This year she broke the record in prelims at 59.05, then in the finals broke it again at 58.09.

She also won the 400 IM and the 100 breaststroke.

Combined, the women's and men's teams had 5,091 points to finish in second place overall among the 10 teams in the meet.

Lang's winning time in the 400 IM was 4:34.04 and in the 100 breaststroke it was 1:05.92. The Roseville, California native also had a third place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.07).

Taylor White was second in the marathon 1650 freestyle race with a time of 17.37.06.

White also competed in the 500 free and was fifth (5:12.18) and she was fourth in the 200 (1:56.47).

White swam leadoff for the 800 free relay team that finished third (7:57.77). That team had Samantha Jackson on the second leg, Lang third and Grace Motisi swimming the anchor leg.

The swimming and diving teams have wrapped up competition in the fall semester. They kickoff competition in the spring semester on January 8 at Saint Michael's.
