PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - #12 ranked Bentley fell on the road to #8 ranked Pace 12-7 in a battle of nationally ranked teams on Friday night.
Pace was led offensively by Daniel Zabbia with four goals and Caden Hallinan with three.
Hunter Smith led the Falcons with three goals, his third straight game with at least three goals.
The first period was low scoring with only two goals scored, both going the way of the Setters.
The second quarter saw Pace expand its lead to 6-0 before Smith got Bentley on the board at the 1:54 mark. But Pace closed the half with two goals in the final minute to lead 8-1 at halftime.
The Falcons went on a 3-0 run midway through the third period with the goals coming from Smith,
Nathan Alviti and
David Gagnon, the latter two in a man-up situation. That cut the deficit to 10-5, but that is as close as they could get the rest of the way.
Kyle Piersiak led Bentley with three caused turnovers. He was also one of three players, along with
Alex Parton and Smith, to scoop up four ground balls.
Bentley (6-4, 3-3 NE10) will look to bounce back when they visit Assumption on Tuesday night.
