WORCESTER, Mass. –
Will Adams scored the go-ahead goal with 8:32 remaining in the 4
th quarter and Bentley rallied to beat Assumption 12-11 in the first round of the NE10 Men's Lacrosse Championship.
The Falcons, the #5 seed, advance to the semifinals where they will meet the #1 seed Saint Anselm on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Bentley trailed in this game 11-9 in the fourth quarter after a goal by Assumption's Ryan Bogar at the 13:57 mark.
But Bentley did not allow another goal the rest of the way and rallied for the win.
Just 25 seconds after Bogar's goal,
Brady Glass began the comeback with a goal, assisted by
Hunter Smith.
After the team's traded possessions twice, a pushing penalty on the Falcons gave Assumption a 30 second man-up opportunity. But Bentley goalie
Jackson Tinsley made two saves to keep the score tied.
Tinsley made seven saves in the fourth quarter and 14 overall.
After the penalty expired and another save by Tinsley,
Nathan Alviti tied the game 11-11 with his third goal of the game at the 9:23 mark.
A faceoff win by
Dalton MacKinnon and ground ball by
Nick Kane gave Bentley possession and they cashed in when Adams scored, assisted by
Garrett Witt, with 8:32 left.
Bentley blanked Assumption on their final four possessions and they secured the win to advance.
Alviti and Glass were Bentley's leading goal scores with three each and Witt had a game-high five points, all assists.
MacKinnon won 15-26 faceoffs and had a game-high five ground balls.
