NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Caitlin Burmester won the 1500 at the James Barber/Jack Maloney Invitational over the weekend, hosted by Southern Connecticut State.
Burmester won with a time of 4:35.90, almost nine seconds better than the second place runner in a field that included Division I athletes. It's her third win in a race this outdoor season after wins in the 800 and the mile at SNHU on March 28.
Her time is the second fastest in the East Region so far in the outdoor season.
Lily Tedford was 6
th in the 1500.
In the field events on Friday,
Mia Bonner was sixth in the triple jump.
Marisa Rayhill ran to a third place finish in the 5000 at 20:33.21.
In the 400 hurdles,
Hannah Croteau and
India Haynesworth were 4
th and 5
th. Croteau ran a 1:12.91 and Haynesworth a 1:14.44.
The Falcons will next compete at the Northeast 10 Championships, beginning on Friday and hosted by Southern New Hampshire.
