WALTHAM, Mass. – Falcons center back
Wynn Hammond scored a thunderous header off a corner kick in the second half, but the Bentley men's soccer team was defeated at home by Holy Family 2-1 on Saturday.
The defeat saw Bentley's eight-match home unbeaten streak snapped, three days after a 2-0 victory over No. 18 ranked Franklin Pierce.
The Tigers scored goals early in each half. Ned Lewis scored 1:41 into the first half and Jackson Kiss 2:24 into the second half.
With under 11 minutes remaining, Hammond's goal off a corner kick by
Logan Veloria cut the deficit in half. Veloria sent in the kick from the left corner and Hammond charged to the back post for a strong header for the goal.
Bentley kept the pressure on and had chances to tie over the remaining 10 minutes but couldn't find the equalizer.
The Falcons finished the afternoon with a 21-9 edge in total shots and 6-4 in shots on goal.
Bentley (2-1) will next play on Saturday at home against Pace as part of Falcon Weekend.
