RINDGE, N.H. – The Bentley baseball team entered its Northeast 10 season emphatically, winning both ends of a doubleheader at Franklin Pierce Saturday. The Falcons totaled 28 runs and clubbed five homers on the day.

Bentley 22, Franklin Pierce 9
Early on it appeared Franklin Pierce was in store for the offensive fireworks when it held a 5-2 lead after the first inning, but Bentley went berserk in the sixth inning for a 22-9 win.
The Falcons totaled 14 runs in the sixth stanza, tying a program record that was last achieved in this year's season-opener at Barry (Feb. 6). Bentley needed seven hits and three Franklin Pierce errors to turn its 6-5 lead into a 20-5 stomping in just one inning.
Brendan Sencaj belted a grand slam in that sixth inning, and
David VanderZouwen hit a three-run homer.
VanderZouwen and
Tommy Bolton both scored four times in the win. Bolton reached base four times with two hits and two walks.
Jared Berardino had his first four-hit game of the season by going 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.
Sencaj and Pappas finished the game with three hits, each.
Although Bentley starting pitcher
Pat Heber allowed five earned runs in five innings, he matched his carer-high in strikeouts with 10 while earning the win. Â
It was the second time this season that Bentley reached the 20-run mark. The Falcons beat Bridgeport, 20-6, Feb. 21.

Bentley 6, Franklin Pierce 3 (7 inn.)
Stan DeMartinis III hit his conference-leading eighth home run of the season, and
Zach Eigenbrod struck out a career-high 10 batters to lead the Falcons to a 6-3 win in the second game at Franklin Pierce.
DeMartinis clubbed a two-run shot in the fifth inning that increased Bentley's lead to 5-1.
Bentley held a 3-0 lead through three-and-a-half innings.
Jared Berardino hit an RBI double in the third inning, while
David VanderZouwen and
Tommy Bolton each hit RBI singles in the fourth.
Eigenbrod picked up his second win of the season after yielding two earned runs through five innings. He issued just one walk.
The Falcons and Ravens have another doubleheader Sunday, March 15, that starts at 12 p.m.
